A nationally known horse breeding facility established in the 1930s just north of downtown Franklin, Harlinsdale Farm was purchased by the city of Franklin in 2004, placed under a permanent conservation easement in 2007, and opened to the public shortly thereafter. In 2015, the non-profit Friends of Franklin Parks broke ground on a multi-purpose equestrian arena designed to accommodate a range of events.
Harlinsdale Farm has been called the most significant historic farm associated with the Tennessee walking horse industry. Established just outside downtown Franklin in 1933 by W. W. Harlin, the farm quickly became famous for breeding champions and placed horses all over the world for more than 70 years before the property was sold to the City of Franklin to become a public park.
